MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Among the 7 judges was Justice Kyra H. Bolden, who is running for a seat on the bench. Justice Bolden was appointed by Governor Whitmer in January 2023 and is now seeking a full term. Previously, Bolden was a Democratic member of the State House of Representatives and a lawyer in the Detroit area.
“We go to different places in the state to make sure that the community understands what the Michigan Supreme Court is about and how we go about making determinations on our cases,” said Bolden.
In her time on Michigan’s highest court bolden authored 8 majority opinions.
She lives in her hometown of Southfield with her husband and daughter.
