Isaac Gordon, Chase Pietila, Trevor Russell are alternate captains
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech hockey coach Joe Shawhan has named Jack Works the captain of the 2024-25 Huskies. Isaac Gordon, Chase Pietila, and Trevor Russell are also on the leadership team as alternate captains.
Works is a senior from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and will play his third season with the Huskies after starting his career with the Denver Pioneers. Last season he skated in 35 games and tallied career-highs with 20 points after 10 goals and 10 assists. Works was named the MVP of the 58th Great Lakes Invitational after scoring a hat trick in the title game. He was named to the CCHA All-Academic Team and has twice received the team’s Rick Yeo Unsung Hero Award.
Sophomore forward Isaac Gordon (Landmark, Manitoba) led the Huskies with 36 points and 18 goals as a freshman last season to lead the CCHA in points and rank second in goals. His 36 points were the most by a Tech rookie since 2002-03. Gordon was named the CCHA Rookie of the Year and to the All-CCHA Second Team and CCHA All-Rookie Team. He attended the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL Development Camp in the offseason.
Sophomore defenseman Chase Pietila (Howell, Michigan) was selected with the 111th overall selection in the fourth round of the 2024 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He led the team with 19 assists while scoring three goals as a freshman. He ranked fourth in the CCHA and eighth nationally amongst freshmen defensemen in assists. He also led the league and NCAA freshmen in penalty minutes (60).
Senior defenseman Trevor Russell (Old Hickory, Tennessee) has appeared in 72 games over the past three seasons with the Huskies. He tallied a career-best seven assists as a junior after scoring four goals as a sophomore. Russell is a CCHA All-Academic Team member and has twice attended the New Jersey Devils NHL Development Camp.
