Harborfest runs until 8/25

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette’s favorite end of summer celebration began this evening with a performance of the Marquette Symphony at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

Harborfest is produced each year by the Marquette West Rotary Club, with all the proceeds being put back into the community through the UP’s own United Way campaign, Yoopers United. Harborfest is one of the primary fundraising events for Yoopers United. This celebration raises money through the sale of wristbands for alcoholic drinks, and through the sale of beer and wine. Harborfest co-chair Amanda Knaffla believes they have something for everyone.

“A lot of local food trucks and a few from out of the area that are down here. So everything from cookies to hamburgers, it’s all down here. We’ve got things too for families, so, double trouble DJ’s have an inflatable bouncy park that’s set up,” said Knaffla.

The musical entertainment available at harbor fest is very diverse; from marching bands and the Marquette symphony,
To red hot cover bands on Friday and Saturday Nights. Local resident Tesse Sayen is happy her kids can sample different kinds of music.

It’s a great opportunity for us to listen to some local music and local artists and enjoy some food and jump on the bouncy houses,

Though not a carnival midway, Harborfest has it’s share of tempting summertime favorites.
Harborfest is a free event, with variable starting times, so check their website for the schedule

This festival will run until 11:00pm Saturday Night.
