MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – For those who enjoy South Beach off Lake Street in Marquette, there will soon be more places to park.
the Marquette Board of Light and Power has opened a section of fence that once protected the old Shiras Power Plant to public parking.
This new area will add up to 18 new parking places at the popular beach.
Lake Street residents have long been critical of people parking illegally on the street when the original parking lot fills up on sunny days.
A permanent use for the property has yet to be determined, but it must align with Marquette’s master plan for future development.
