MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – For NMU’s 125th anniversary the college is focusing all its alumni, and their achievements.
To help NMU celebrate, alumni owned Blackrocks Brewery will be holding “Alumni Friday” next week, and launching a new beer, “Wildcat Gold Lager.”
The launch of the new product will also provide a give-back for NMU which will go towards supporting student recreation on the Noquemanon Trail Network, and upgraded equipment at NMU’s Outdoor Recreation Center.
“The opportunity to enjoy Lake Superior and the fresh air recreation that we have here in Marquette is really a big part of what it means to be a wildcat,” said David Nyberg, NMU’s executive director of business engagement and economic development. “So we thought it was a great collaboration to kind of merge the interests of both Northern and Blackrocks in supporting trail-based recreation here in our community.”
One of Blackrock’s co-owners, Andy Langlois, said NMU gives a lot to the community, and they are happy to help give back.
“Marquette really wouldn’t be how it is without NMU here they just bring a ton of vibrancy and energy that helps shape the town to what it is,” said Langlois. “So we’re really excited to be a part of this.”
Wildcat Gold Lauger will be available at Alumni Friday next week and afterwards in the pub, and at NMU sporting events.
