Ferris State edges Grand Valley State for first place
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Michigan Tech football team has been tabbed to finish fifth in the GLIAC Coaches’ Poll announced at Media Day on Monday, in Grand Rapids. The Huskies received 26 votes.
Ferris State claimed four of the seven possible first-place votes and totaled 46 points to narrowly hold an edge over Grand Valley State, who earned three first-place ballots and 44 total points. Davenport earned one first-place nod to be placed third in the coaches’ poll with 38 points. Saginaw Valley State was tabbed just ahead of the Huskies with 30 points, as Michigan Tech racked up 26 points.
Wayne State (6th-place), Northern Michigan (7th-place) and first-year GLIAC affiliate Roosevelt (8th-place) rounded out the GLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Michigan Tech will host six home games at Kearly Stadium in 2024 including the Class of 1974 50 Year Reunion on Oct 5., hosting Wayne State, the Miner’s Cup vs. Northern Michigan on Oct. 26 and Senior Day vs. Grand Valley State on Nov. 9.

Michigan Tech football in partnership with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced a four-year media partnership with FloSports beginning the fall of 2022. Anyone who subscribes using a GLIAC member institution domain (.edu) e-mail address will be eligible for an additional discounted subscription rate. The Huskies open their season on the road, traveling to NSIC foe Bemidji State on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. EST.
