Insights: 10th Annual South Shore Fishing Association’s Veteran’s Fishing Day this weekend

Veteran’s Fishing Day was started in 2014 to show appreciation for veterans.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on August 3, it’s followed by a boat parade at 1 p.m. at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

45 years ago, roomie Nakatsuka came to Marquette when she was in high school, part of the first sister city delegation. She began learning about Marquette when she was a pen pal to local resident Laura Farnsworth. Later, when Rumi traveled to America, she would stay with Laura's family, and so began a friendship that has withstood the test of time and distance.
