3.97 GPA in Mechanical Engineering
HOUGHTON, MI – Michigan Tech cross country and track & field senior Sam Lange has been named to the CSC Academic All-American Second Team, the College of Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
Lange joins Jani Lane (Second Team, 2015), Jason Saliga (Third Team, 2017) and Clayton Sayen (Third Team, 2023) as the lone Huskies’ to earn Academic All-America honors and just the second Second Teamer in program history. He earned CSC Academic All-District honors in 2022-23.
During the cross country season, the Washington, Illinois, native was the Huskies’ low-stick at both the GLIAC Cross Country Championships (6th-place) and the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Cross Country Championships (21st)–where he was First Team All-GLIAC and Midwest All-Region. Lange repeated as 1,500m runner-up in the outdoor track & field campaign before running a personal-best time of 3:45.01 to earn All-Region accolades and qualify for the 1,500m at the NCAA Championships, where he placed 17th overall.
In the classroom, Lange was a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete and a GLIAC Academic Excellence Team member, holding a 3.97 GPA while majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
