WETMORE, Mich. (WZMQ) – An inmate at the Alger Correctional Facility is dead after a fight with another inmate.
A Michigan Department of Corrections spokesperson confirms Drequan Glover died after a “physical altercation” with another inmate on June 18. The MDOC says the fight did not involve any weapons.
Staff initially responded to an inmate in need of emergency care. Staff provided first aid and contacted emergency medical services, but Glover was ultimately pronounced dead.
The MDOC says as with all unexpected deaths, the MDOC and Michigan State Police began an investigation. The investigation concluded Glover’s death was the result of the fight.
There is no word on the name of the other inmate involved, what led up to the fight, and what or if any charges will be filed.
MDOC will not be releasing any additional information at this time as the investigation continues.
