IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – At 2:42 PM, the Iron Mountain Fire Department received an urgent call from the Iron Mountain Police Department about a downed powerline near Traders Mine Road, past Systems Control. The fire department quickly dispatched an engine and a brush truck to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a power line arcing across the roadway, sparking a small brush fire that had spread to an area of approximately 50 by 50 yards.
The brush truck swiftly contained and suppressed the fire. We Energies arrived shortly after and cut the power, allowing the fire department to safely clean up the scene. The Iron Mountain Police Department and Michigan State Police were also present, with the state police departing once the fire department took control. The fire department cleared the scene at 4:04 PM.
