MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – All riders participating in the Iron Range Roll Race of 2024 gathered at the YMCA today to pick up their pre-race packets. This year is a record-breaking year with 317 riders, all over the age range.
The packet came in a tote bag with different goodies provided by sponsors, as well as a map of the course and this year’s T-shirt. This year the course is a little different. As in past years, the riders will start at Cliff Shaft Mine Museum. However, instead of riding to the ore dock, they will be riding to Barrell and Beam where to after party will be waiting.
This after-party will have food from places like Texas roadhouse and pasties that were donated. As well as an award ceremony with two gifts for the best overall for women and men. This friendly competition is to raise money for the Marquette YMCA.
“No e-bikes is kinda the only thing with it being a downhill race it is a little bit faster and we just don’t want anyone getting hurt but, ya a curser, a gravel bike, mountain bike. You name it, it’s gonna ride” Kaylee Birman, Connect Marquette Secretary.
No matter age or bike type all are welcome to come, participate, or just support.
