MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A garage is heavily damaged after a late night fire in the City of Marquette Sunday.

The Marquette City Fire Department says the call came in just after 11 p.m. at 420 N Front St. Fire crews were on the scene in less than five minutes.

When firefighters arrived, the detached garage was fully engulfed. Crews knocked the fire down quickly and cleared the scene around 1:10 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted by the Marquette Township Fire, Chocolay Township Fire, Marquette City Police Department, Marquette County Central Dispatch, UP Health Systems Marquette, Marquette Board of Light and Power, and Semco.

The evening included songs, meditation, and a sermon by a Buddhist priest. However, most of the night was spent reaffirming democracy by directing most of their rhetoric toward elected officials.
