ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Registration is open for an annual event for gardening enthusiasts in Escanaba.
The Bay de Noc Gardening Conference returns for its 24th year on Saturday, April 27. Attendees can choose four of sixteen classes to attend throughout the day, including composting, invasive species, succulents, small fruits, cooking from the garden, and ways to incorporate native species into your landscape.
Conference representative Warren Schauer says whether you’re just getting into gardening or it’s been a lifelong passion, everyone can find a class they will benefit from and enjoy.
“These classes range from basic to a little bit more advanced, so this is open to the general public,” said Schauer. “You do not have to be a Master Gardener. This conference does qualify for Master Gardener certification credits, but you can be just beginning. There’s all kinds of neat things to learn.”
The Bay de Noc Gardening Conference will take place on April 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bay College Heirman Center. The cost to attend is $45 per person, which includes morning refreshments, a box lunch, and up to four classes. Pre-payment is required.
Registration for the Bay de Noc Gardening Conference closes on Monday, April 15. Registration brochures are available in Escanaba at Tractor Supply, Healthway Nutrition, Mel’s Lawn and Garden, Wickert Floral, L&M Fleet Supply, and Pam’s Petals. In Gladstone, brochures are available at Trotter’s Floral, Frame Farm, and Gladstone City Hall. In Marquette, brochures are available at Flower Works and Forsberg Flowers.
