IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich, (WZMQ) – Pine Mountain Ski Resort gears up for its highly anticipated annual Cardboard Classic and King and Queen of the Mountain events, all set to take place tomorrow.
Tomorrow, participants will kick off the festivities with the Cardboard Classic, slated to start at 10 AM CST. Local youngsters have been hard at work crafting and decorating their own cardboard sleds, vying for top honors and exciting prizes.
Following the morning thrill, at 1 PM Central, the King and Queen of the Mountain event will commence. Competitors will dash down the snowy slopes with cups of either beer or root beer in hand. Divided into two brackets, ages 21 and up and 20 and under, racers will aim to maintain the most liquid in their cups while clocking the fastest times. The victor will not only secure their name on this year’s trophy but also earn a coveted season ski pass.
Brock Verdegan, the Director of Ski and Golf, encourages everyone to partake in the festivities, stating, “Come out and enjoy the weather. It actually should be pretty good skiing conditions. We’re supposed to get a pretty good drop down in temp. We’ve been in the 50s like every single day this last week. We should get a little bit of snow, hopefully no rain. We’re supposed to be in the 30s tomorrow, which is probably going to create pretty good conditions for what’s left out there.”
Registration for both events remains open right up until the start times, ensuring that no one misses out on the excitement.
