SAINT NICHOLAS, Mich. (WZMQ) – Mid Peninsula High School honored long time basketball coach Mark Branstrom at halftime of Thursday night’s varsity basketball game.
Branstrom took the reins of the wolverines program in 1981 and stayed on the bench until last year. Over his 42 years leading the team he won 2 Class D District Championships, a Regional Championship, and was the Class D coach of the year in 2015.
Joining Branstrom during tonight’s recognition ceremony was his family and an assortment of former players.
“I loved basketball and played it almost all my life, for me to be able to blessed like I was and to come in and continuously coach like I did, it was awesome,” remarked Branstrom.
A secondary plaque just like the one given to Branstrom will hang in the hallway at Mid Peninsula High School.
