NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – After 24 years of serving his community, Negaunee Post Lead Dispatcher Andy Lusardi, has retired. Police dispatchers carry a big responsibility of protecting and serving the community, over the phone.
Every call a dispatcher takes can bring a different level of stress coming from the other end. Staying patient and efficient with the situation is imperative to the person’s safety, and Lusardi said the new dispatchers have already begun filling his shoes.
“Well we’re the first first responders when they dial 911, they’re not having a good day and we help them, you gotta stay calm, cool, and collected and you gotta give them the best service you can. We’ve got a young crowd down there right now, but I have faith they’re doing good I’ve trained some of them,” commented Lusardi.
