MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette-area tree farm owner is the latest to throw his hat in the ring for state representative.
George Meister announced Monday, Jan. 1 on the Meister’s Farm Facebook page that he plans to run for the 109th State House District, currently held by Rep. Jenn Hill. It is unclear whether he is running in the Democrat or Republican primary.
Meister joins a growing list of candidates challenging the first-term incumbent Hill. So far, Rep. Hill faces six challengers for the 109th district seat, including at least two running against her in the democratic primary.
Primary election day in Michigan is Aug. 6, 2024.
