ISHPEMING, Mich, (WZMQ) – Carol Fulsher the first administrator of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail (IOHT) Recreation Authority marked her retirement with a party tonight.
She was celebrating her more than 15 years of work on the trails, along with her friends, family, and coworkers.
Fulsher said while working on the trail, she’s learned a lot about the UP’s history.
“I’ve learned so much about our mining history and our local history,” said Fulsher, “and I’ve enjoyed working. We have eighty something unique stories along the trail talking about our local history and that for me had been the most exciting part.”
Fulsher also said that she is grateful for all the community support for the trails throughout the years.
“We live in a wonderful community with lots of volunteerism and this wouldn’t happen without them,” said Fulsher.”There’s so many people that just come out and say they want to do something to help the trail, so many people that build events that use the trail and they’re all volunteers. It’s just been a great thing to watch.”
