MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Mount Bohemia in the Keweenaw isn’t quite ready to open, but this weekend the mountain held a celebration in Marquette for those who have bought passes for this year.
Ore Dock Brewery was filled with winter sports enthusiasts on Saturday night. Local musicians provided entertainment for attendees as they learned about what to expect from the mountain this year. Door prizes and refreshments were also being given out to anyone who attended.
According to Mount Bohemia the celebration is a way to grow anticipation for the upcoming season.
“Each ski community is really tight, it is more than just friendship, it’s a community, we like to come together and get things going,” said Bob Hendrickson who organized the event.
The mountain relies on 100% natural snow, an opening date has not yet been decided but will be announced through social media channels.
