MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, a Manistique business delivered some holiday cheer to those in need.
Keller Williams Upper Peninsula Real Estate distributed blessing baskets to seniors and families throughout the city. Keller Williams partnered with past clients, community members, and other businesses to fill the baskets, which contained the fixings for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, some extra treats, and a gift card to purchase a turkey or other entrée.
“Seniors do make some difficult choices at times—prescription drugs, medical care, food, utilities—on limited income,” said owner Julie Barr. “To be able to provide them with a Thanksgiving meal for them, their family, their friends, it’s a grateful response for everything that our community does to support us as a business. We like to give back to our community in this way.”
This is the second year Keller Williams gave blessing baskets to the Manistique Senior Citizens Center. Barr coordinated with the Manistique Area Public Schools counselor, who identified families who might benefit from a blessing basket.
“She said they were so filled with gratitude and joy that somebody was thinking of them,” Barr said.
This week, Keller Williams agents across the country are handing out thousands of blessing baskets in their communities. Barr says the Manistique office served more than 50 families.
