MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette City Commission is accepting applications for an open seat on the Board of Light and Power.
BLP board member Paul Schloegel had to resign from his position after winning a city commission seat on Election Day. The city has 60 days to fill the seat.
“A position on our board is basically a representative for our community,” said Matt Zavislak, Manager of Administrative Services. “One of the major benefits of being in a role like this is being able to understand utility better and you get to see all of the working aspects and how we operate.”
Applications are due by Friday, Nov. 24. The commission is expected to make a decision by Dec. 11.
