IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – A brand-new four-story extended stay hotel is rapidly approaching its grand opening. The Towneplace Suites by Marriott, nestled at the bustling intersection of Stephenson Avenue and Ludington Street in Iron Mountain, is in the final stages of preparation, and is eager to welcome a few more team members to its ranks before the big day. Currently, the Marriott is providing intensive training to a dedicated team of 13 employees. There will be another full-course training in just a few weeks for the employees with Marriott staff.
The splendid hotel boasts a total of 95 rooms, all thoughtfully equipped with motion-sensored lighting for the utmost convenience. Each room features a fully equipped kitchen complete with garbage disposals. Among these accommodations, eight are luxurious one-bedroom suites, offering guests the added convenience of a full-size stove.
The hotel, being an extended stay option in the downtown area, allows the staff to be able to serve business travelers who might be staying in the area for a few weeks at a time. The hotel is outfitting each room with dishes, plates, pots, pans, and full sinks. There are also laundry amenities and workout facilities on-site, as well as a conference room.
Anthony Awrey, the General Manager of Towneplace Suites by Marriott, expressed his enthusiasm about the hotel’s collaboration with a new local business. He stated, “The Veridea Group, through Marriott, is very excited to partner with local businesses. We are looking to collaborate with Oddfellows to provide our guests with an event space where they can meet, complemented by the fantastic beverage and food options that Oddfellows offers.”
The hotel is also a dog-friendly option for traveling guests, and Awrey informed that the hotel will be collaborating with Fetch grooming, offering a 5% discount for visiting pet owners who stay at the Towneplace Suites by Mariott.
“We are hoping to work very closely with a lot of different local businesses. We want to promote the business in the area, of course downtown here. Anything we can do to help that and cooperate with all of the local businesses, we are open to do. We also have a town map in the lobby, so it’s going to be kind of a picture of the area down here, and we are going to be able to highlight all of those businesses on that for our guests,” shared Awrey.
“We will have our Grand Opening and ribbon cutting here downtown. We will be doing tours for anybody that wants to come through and see the property,” Awrey added.
As anticipation builds, the grand opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting event are scheduled to take place in early October, promising an exciting addition to the Iron Mountain community.
