Harbor Fest brings music and more to Marquette’s Lower Harbor

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Over 6,000 people stopped by Harbor Fest in Marquette this weekend.

It was a tribute to rock of the past at this year’s harbor fest in marquette lower harbor. bands covered songs by Ratt, Poison and Kiss.

“Big Trouble was on, we had the NMU Marching Band Saturday Morning, Iron Daisy, Revelle is going on, so we are ready to pack the park,” remarked Bryan Lopac, the Harbor Fest co-chair.

Organized by the West Marquette Rotary, the festival is catered to just about everyone. Attendees were able to listen to their favorite music, grab a bite to eat, and have some fun.

“I’m a big fan of classic rock,” said Gregg Kahsar, who was at Harbor Fest with his family.

All of the proceeds from the festival go directly back into helping the community. This year the proceeds are shaping up to be significant, on Friday night alone 13 kegs were sold.

“We just awarded 30,000 last month to nonprofits in our community, any proceeds or profits we make goes directly back to the community to help those in need so these nonprofits can continue to serve our community,” added Lopac.

This year the weather brought light rain, high winds, and colder temperatures for the music festival. But organizers were confident that they would still see a large crowd, and it was obvious to see that they were right to be confident.

“Over all for the weekend, 6 to 8,000 people were looking at,” added Lopac.

The festival finished up Saturday night, the final performer was a kiss tribute band, with makeup and all.
