CHASSELL, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two people were safely rescued and brought to shore after their boat became disabled near Portage Lake early Thursday.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office got a call from the U.S. Coast Guard just after midnight requesting assistance with a stranded vessel at the entrance of Chassell Bay in Portage Lake.
The sheriff’s office says the two people on the boat were located, and deputies secured the disabled vessel with the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Boat Marine 1.
The vessel, along with its occupants, were safely towed to the Houghton waterfront without incident.
