MENOMINEE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Florida man was arrested in Menominee County on Wednesday evening after multi-county high-speed pursuit. The 35-mile pursuit started in Dickinson County, and ended in Nadeau Township.
Michael Egan, 53, is facing fleeing and eluding charges. He was arraigned in Menominee County District Court Thursday afternoon.
According to the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, they were first notified of the pursuit at approximately 7:55 p.m. on July 27 by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office. Dickinson County was requesting assistance in placing “stop sticks” as the pursuit was continuing eastbound on US-2 toward the Dickinson-Menominee County line.
Egan had already successfully evaded multiple sets of “stop sticks” in Dickinson County. The vehicle entered Menominee County at approximately 8:06 p.m., with speeds in excess of 80 mph recorded during the chase.
The pursuit continued on US-2 into Menominee County, where the driver avoided an additional stop stick check point near the town of Powers. The pursuit continued on US-2, US-41, and a number of county roads, before coming to an end on a rural two-track road in Nadeau Township.
Egan, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies say he has ties to the area.
Neither the suspect nor any citizens were injured during the pursuit through Menominee County.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iron Mountain Police Department, Michigan State Police, Hannahville Tribal Police Department, Dickinson County Central Dispatch, and Menominee 911 all assisted with the incident.
