Teen-Led Organization, The Cure, Hosts Upcoming Drive-In Movie Fundraiser in Dickinson County

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – In response to alarming national statistics on the high risk of suicide among children and teens aged ten to twenty-four, a new non-profit organization called The Cure was formed in Dickinson County this year. Committed to providing a safe space for local youth in that age range, The Cure brings together adult mentors and teen leaders to focus on improving overall mental health and wellbeing through student and peer-led alliances, workshops, and life coaching initiatives.

Now, one of the teen leaders, JohnPaul Kube, is excited to announce a new fundraiser coming soon for the actively engaged teens. This upcoming Thursday, The Cure will transform the Kingsford High School parking lot into a drive-in movie theater.

With doors opening at seven, the event promises an array of concessions including root beer floats and popcorn, creating a delightful experience for the community. The teen leader added, “It’s really going to be a good time for the community”.

The featured movie for the upcoming evening event this Thursday, July 27th, will be “The Sandlot,” chosen to coincide with its thirtieth anniversary. As the sun sets on Thursday evening, the screen will illuminate in the Kingsford High School parking lot, providing a nostalgic and entertaining experience for all attendees to enjoy.

Tickets are $10 for pre-sale, or $15 at the door. Limited first and second row parking is available with VIP tickets for $100. All tickets are available for pre-sale here:

Some of The Cure’s featured upcoming workshops for teens include an acrylic canvas painting workshop, a positive vibes music workshop with the local string quartet, Datura, a clean cooking workshop, baking for pets, and a Sunday night mangia – which is a family-style dinner and bible study event.
