MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – 11 blocks of downtown Marquette were taken over today by the city’s fourth of July parade.
The parade was sponsored by the Kiwanis club of marquette. Thousands lined Washington Street, to watch over 80 floats from local businesses and organizations make their way down the parade route.
This year’s parade marshal was Nheena Ittner, the former director of the U.P. Children’s Museum.
“I just retired, so I’m kind of feeling like, oh my gosh, what am I? Who am I? But to be honored like this, it means the world to me, I love this town, and I love the Children’s Museum” remarked Ittner.
Organizers said this year’s parade was a major success.
