CHRISTMAS, Mich. (WZMQ) – Detectives from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post have arrested one woman for attempting to light her husband on fire in October of 2021.
During the course of an unrelated investigation, detectives learned of an unreported incident of a 63-year-old male victim, who was residing in Christmas at the time, being allegedly assaulted by his wife.
The investigation revealed that the wife, 52-year-old Julie Boxley of Ishpeming, had poured lighter fluid on the victim and started him on fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished with no injury to the victim.
Boxley was arrested on June 20, is charged with third degree arson and assault with the intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. She was arraigned in the 93rd District Court in Alger County on June 22, and is currently lodged at the Alger County Sheriff’s Department.
Boxley is due back in court for a Probable Cause Conference on Wednesday, June 28, and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Friday, July 7.
