MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Greek organizations on NMU’s campus are working to end hazing this week.
Phi Sigma Sigma, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and Alpha Gamma Delta gathered to join greek organizations around the country to join the pledge called ‘these hands don’t haze.’
The goal of Tuesday night’s event was to educate members of greek life about the dangers of hazing not only in the greek community but also student groups across the college’s campus.
“Some people think [hazing] only applies to [greek organizations] and it doesn’t,” remarked NMU dean of students, Christine Greer, “any organization on this campus could haze and the greeks especially don’t want hazing associated with them so that’s why this event is important to them.”
The NMU Greek council will be hosting a Greek showcase Thursday on Northern’s campus to share more information about Greek life.
