Bugsy Sailor, founder of the Fresh Coast Film Festival and 906 Day also began Plaidurday. At first, it was just Bugsy and a small group of friends, but the next year they launched the picture tradition.
The goal… is to get as many people as possible to wear plaid.
This year will be their 7th photo in the Marquette Area and Bugsy say’s he can’t wait. “I was working a job down there for a while and one of my coworkers said ‘Bugsy’, you wear too much plaid and it’s taking away from your potential in life. So I said well john, I’m gonna wear more plaid and I’m gonna create a holiday around it”
Due to the pandemic, this tradition didn’t see a lot of popularity in the last couple of years, but still, the community came through. This year, Bugsy is hoping for an even bigger turnout. “It’s just a way to be silly, a way to put smiles on people’s faces and I always say it’s because we’re all connected through a common thread”.
