This afternoon, the upper peninsula is expecting a line of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms. Some storms may produce small hail, damaging wind gusts, and there is even a slim chance for a tornado. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Marquette and much of the U.P. under a marginal risk (1/5) for severe thunderstorms while some locations to the south have been placed under a slight risk (2/5) for these potential severe storms. Based on current model guidance, it looks like storms will form between 1:30-3:30 PM for north central areas then push southward reaching the Escanaba area around 6:00-7:00 PM. Note these times are only an approximation and little changes in cloud cover/wind/temperature could change this. This is not looking like it will be a widespread severe weather event, but a few storms may cause issues Stay safe, and be sure to heed all watches/warnings seriously!
