Eight goals and three assists against SVSU
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Junior attacker Josie Lakosky has been selected as GLIAC Attacker of the Week, announced by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC).
Lakosky paced the Wildcats on offense in the victory over Saginaw Valley State over the weekend, tallying an impressive eight goals with three assists for 11 points. Lakosky’s shooting percentage was equally as impressive; her nine shots were all on-target, giving her a 1.00 SOG%, as well as an astonishing .889 SH%, scoring on all but one of her shots.
After the weekend, Lakosky paces the nation in goals per game, averaging just north of five at 5.22, as well as total points (65) and points per game (7.22). Lakosky’s total goals (47) are second only to Madison Primeau of Lees-McRae (48). Her shots per game (10.33) and shots on goal per game (9.11) are also second and first in the country.
To go along with the offensive totals against SVSU, Lakosky recorded five ground balls, five caused turnovers, and five draw controls in a game where the ‘Cats dominated the Cardinals in all of those categories: 26-9 on ground balls,17-5 on caused turnovers, and 23-3 on draw controls.
This marks the second time this season the attacker has earned a weekly honor, the last coming in the first week of the season.
