Huskies open conference play of the road next weekend
HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team wrapped up a four-game homestand with a 2-0 loss to Northwood on Saturday at Kearly Stadium.
“They’re a good team, but our standard has to be better,” Tech coach Melissa Kuhar said. “Games are going to be hard to win if we keep having lapses in judgment. We’re struggling with that final third of the pass to get our offense going.
“We’re four games in, and we have to get it figured out with all of our game experience. We’ll go back to the drawing board and raise our standards. We have to keep the belief and do it together.”
The Timberwolves found the back of the net in each half to improve to 3-0—all in shutout fashion.
Mari Jackson opened the scoring 31:12 into the game when she tipped in a centering feed by Claire Gonyea. Ella Boyd also assisted on the play.
Ashtyn Lange added to the lead late in the game at 81:55. Carly Boyd had a long setup feed into the box that Lange chipped over the goalkeeper and defender.
Shots favored Northwood 15-5 in the game with an 11-1 advantage on target. The Timberwolves led in corner kicks 5-2 and fouls 14-10.
Tech hits the road for the first time this season, opening GLIAC play at Parkside on Friday and at Roosevelt on Sunday.
