14 named to First Team
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University swimming & diving program had 17 student-athletes garner Scholar All-America honors for the 2024-25 season, announced by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCCA) yesterday.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections, must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a “B” time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
Seven of the nine men to earn the achievement were named to the first team, those being Benaiah Schnurstein (Social Psychology), Daniel Lopez Aponte (Environmental Science), Daniel Khmara (Cyber Defense), Gabriel Fulconi (Coaching), Leo Nolles (Coaching), William LaCount (Biochemistry), and Wyatt Dickman (Business Administration). Andrew Tease (Biochemistry) and Zachary Billotte (Sports Science) earned second-team honors.
Seven of the eight women to earn the achievement earned first team recognition, those being Anika Wright (Economics), Annika Geyer (Art & Design), Becca Burrows (Psychology), Camilla Carbone (Business), Kalina Ceglinski (Sports Science), Mia Strazny (Biology), and Zoe DeKievit (Exercise Science). Abbie Harned (Nursing) earned second-team honors.
In addition, both men’s and women’s teams also earned CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honors with a team cumulative GPA above 3.0, respectively.
