D2CCA Midwest Region Playe of the Year
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech junior guard Marcus Tomashek has been named the D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year in voting conducted by the region’s sports information directors, announced on Friday.
In the same release, Tomashek was the lone GLIAC player to be tabbed on the All-Region First team, after garnering D2CCA All-Region Second Team honors a season ago.
A native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Tomashek is a two-time first-team all-GLIAC selection and 2024-25 GLIAC Player of the Year, Tomashek was a force for the Huskies this season, leading MTU to a 23-7 regular season and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Tomashek, a five-time GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week and one-time National Player of the Week this season, poured in 23.3 points per game, grabbed 4.2 rebounds, and handed out 2.9 assists. The junior ranked 11th in the country in scoring, collecting 30 or more points nine times including two 40-point outbursts.
This is Michigan Tech’s first D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year since Kyle Monroe won the award in the 2019-20 season.
Tomashek and the rest of the men’s hoops squad begin a new season on Saturday, facing Northern Michigan in the Midwest Regional Quarterfinals at 1 p.m.
