Six career goals; scored his first collegiate goal at home Saturday
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Hockey Coach Joe Shawhan has added Alex Nordstrom to the leadership team as an Alternate Captain. Nordstrom joins Captain Jack Works and Isaac Gordon, Chase Pietila, and Trevor Russell who wear an A.
“It is with honor that we name Alex an Alternate Captain for the remainder of the season,” said Shawhan. “During Alex’s career at Tech, he has always rose above the group when the team has needed an example of what it takes to persevere through difficult challenges. He is at his best when we need him most, and I am grateful for what he represents and means to MTU hockey.”
Nordstrom, a senior from Atlantic Mine, Michigan, has appeared in 23 games this season and has two goals and two assists. Both of his goals this season have come against Bemidji State. He has skated in 67 career games in the Black and Gold and has 14 points with six goals and eight assists.
Nordstrom and the Huskies make their first-ever trip to Augustana this weekend for their only meeting of the regular season. Tech is 15-11-2 overall and 11-7-2 in the CCHA and sits in fourth in the standings. Augustana is 16-9-3 overall and 8-5-1 in the CCHA and is in second place in the playoff picture.
