Cindy Pindral’s first class as head coach

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech volleyball coach Cindy Pindral announced three additions to the team for the 2025 season. Setter Maddy Kreider from Kingsford, Michigan, middle blocker Amara Beaudoin from Amherst, Wisconsin, and outside hitter Maddie Torola from Laurium, Michigan have all committed to continuing their education and playing careers at Tech beginning in the fall.

“We are thrilled to have Maddy K., Maddie T., and Amara join our team for next season,” Pindral said. “These athletes bring a wealth of experience at the high school and club levels and will be valuable additions to the roster.”

Maddy Kreider is a 5-8 setter from Kingsford, Michigan. She was a four-year starter and two-time captain at Kingsford High School, where she led the Flivvers to three District Championships and two consecutive undefeated conference championships. Kreider is a two-time Volleyball Player of the Year for the GNC, two-time U.P. Defensive Player of the Year, and was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region all four years. She was named First Team All-State in 2024 and Second Team All-State in 2023. Kreider also played for FC Elite Volleyball Club and is a varsity track and field athlete, placing second in the 4×200 and fourth in the 4×100 at the 2024 MHSAA U.P. Finals. Kreider is an academic all-American who plans to study exercise science/kinesiology at Michigan Tech. Both of Maddy’s parents played basketball for the Huskies. Jason from 1997-2000 and Jaclynn from 1998-2002.

“Maddy is a hometown hero whose resume speaks for itself,” said Pindral. “She’s a leader and fiery competitor who will add a lot of depth to our setting position. Maddy is aggressive, plays fast, and has excellent touch. We are very excited to have her in our gym representing the Huskies and carrying on a family legacy of Husky student-athletes.”

Amara Beaudoin is a 6-1 middle blocker from Amherst, Wisconsin. She was a four-year starter at Amherst High School and Wisconsin Ice and Wisconsin Flight Volleyball Clubs. Beaudoin was the Conference Player of the Year as a senior and was a two-time All-Conference First Team selection, two-time Team MVP and team captain. For her career, she was a three-time all-conference selection and three-time academic all-conference. Beaudoin also plays sand volleyball and earned a bid to the AVP Sand Doubles Championship in 2022. She also runs track. Beaudoin will major in human biology.

“Amara is a well-rounded athlete with a quick arm swing and great shot selection,” added Pindral. “She is an excellent blocker and will bolster our defense at the net. Mallory and I are really looking forward to working with her and developing her skills in a Husky jersey.”

Maddie Torola is a 6-0 opposite hitter from Laurium, Michigan. She was a three-year starter at Calumet High School and has competed for Keweenaw Volleyball Club’s 18’s team for the past three seasons. She plans to major in Business. She led the Copper Kings to a 65-10-2 record during her three seasons. The team advanced to the state semifinals as a sophomore, quarterfinals as a junior, and regional finals as a senior. Toroloa was a first-team all-state selection as a senior while also being honored on the All-UP Dream Team, West-PAC First Team, and MIVCA All-Region squad. She was twice honored as an all-UP, all-region, and all-conference player. At the club level, she was named to the Prep Dig Resolution Tournament Watch List and KVC won the NorthStar Presidents Day Challenge Tournament.

“Maddie is a hometown hero and will quickly become a fan favorite here in the Varsity Gym,” said Pindral. “She’s got excellent skill and can make plays at the net that can change the course of a match. I’ve coached her in club for the past two years and am impressed with her development both as a player and as a leader, so it is truly a pleasure to have her continue on at the next level with us.”
