Wildcats host Michigan State in an exhibition game October 13
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan men’s basketball team will look to ride the success they’ve established over the last couple of years heading into 2024-25, with a dozen home games on tap in the brand new Vandament Arena, as well as a dozen more on the road and four neutral site clashes in Wisconsin Dells.
The most unique game on the schedule is the first, a one of a kind exhibition against NMU alum Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans inside the Superior Dome on October 13.
The Wildcats will start the regular season in Wisconsin Dells, playing Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville on November 8 and 9. The Green and Gold will be right back in the Dells on the 16th to play Illinois-Springfield. Northern will then head to Duluth on November 22 and 23 to play Minnesota State Moorhead and Minnesota Duluth.
NMU will finally return home to make its highly-anticipated debut in the newly renovated Vandament Arena on November 30 against Concordia (WI). With an over 1,500 capacity and two state-of-the-art scoreboards, the new homecourt for the Wildcats is sure to create a thrilling home atmosphere for all. After the first game in the new venue, GLIAC play begins on December 5 and 7 with Purdue Northwest and Parkside in town.
NMU will make one last trip to Wisconsin Dells on December 14 to play Upper Iowa and return home to host Northland on December 21 to round out 2024.
As the calendar flips to 2025, the ‘Cats will be downstate to resume conference play, making stops at Davenport and Grand Valley on January 2 and 4. Northern is then home for four straight, hosting Michigan Tech on the 9th followed by a first-time clash with new GLIAC-foe Roosevelt on the 13th. Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State will also visit Marquette the following weekend, with games on January 16 and 18.
The ‘Cats will then hit the road for games at Ferris State on January 23 and Lake Superior State on the 25th. NMU is home to Grand Valley on January 30th and Davenport on February 1 before another road trip downstate, visiting Saginaw Valley and Wayne State on February 6 and 8.
NMU’s final home games of the regular season are on February 13 and 15, hosting Lake Superior State and Ferris State. The regular season ends with four on the road, starting with Michigan Tech on February 20 and ending with Purdue Northwest on March 1.
