UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Sunday, heavy rainfall and melting snow caused flooding in parts of the U.P.
The above image, taken from a video provided to WZMQ 19 by Jeanette Nowack, shows conditions on US-2 in Powers in the early afternoon. While the road was still flooded a few hours later, Nowack says motorists were eventually able to pass through if driving slowly.
Delta County Emergency Management expects some parts of Escanaba and Rapid River—including 10th Road, 21st Road, Willow Creek Road, and US-41—to continue experiencing high water levels for the next few days. Motorists are urged to be cautious when approaching a flooded roadway.
The National Weather Service office in Negaunee has issued a flood watch for the entire Upper Peninsula through Wednesday. Stay with WZMQ 19 for updates on flooding conditions throughout the week.
