MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – At its April 8, 2026, special meeting, the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority approved three amendments to the Vault Marquette development plan.
The board authorized submission of an MSF Act 381 work plan for the first phase of the project, which includes the new freestanding Trestle Hotel to be built along the 100 block of South Lakeshore Boulevard, as any work on the old Savings Bank Building has been delayed due to structural issues. The project can now be reviewed for possible state tax capture.
It also approved amending the reimbursement agreement to reflect changes in the development plan itself, including two separate development entities and the elimination of an indoor 300-space publicly financed parking facility in favor of an 80-space outdoor privately financed parking lot with potential public access.
Finally, the authority reviewed the Vault Marquette Brownfield Plan Amendment, which reallocates some costs, removes the previously planned residential units, updates higher-than-expected demolition and foundation costs, and adds public infrastructure work such as water main and intersection upgrades.
The board approved the amendment and sent it to the City Commission for approval.
