Alternate Captain had 14 pooints for Huskies this season
HOUGHTON, MI – Michigan Tech hockey senior defenseman Joe Prouty has signed an ECHL contract with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Prouty appeared in 129 career NCAA games and tallied 35 points.
As an alternate captain for the Huskies in 2025-26, Prouty tallied a career-best 14 points on two goals and 12 assists. He scored in the GLI Semifinal win over Miami (Dec. 28) and at St. Thomas (Jan. 30). He ranked second on the team in penalties (11) and third in blocked shots (38). The native of Burnsville, Minnesota, played three seasons and 90 games at Lindenwood before transferring to Tech. He tallied 21 points with the Lions on three goals and 18 assists and was an alternate captain as a junior.
Before college, Prouty played two and a half seasons in the NAHL for New Mexico. He tallied 23 points with 149 penalty minutes during the 2021-22 season in 59 games. Overall, he skated in 132 games for the Ice Dogs with five goals and 29 assists. He also played for Sioux Falls Power AAA and two seasons of high school at Apple Valley.
The Swamp Rabbits are in the South Division of the ECHL and play their home games at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in downtown Greenville. They are affiliated with the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
