MUNISING, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Alger County man was sentenced to prison time for home invasion and other charges on Friday, March 20.
Corey Paul Morrison was sentenced to 120 months for second-degree home invasion. Morrison was charged with home invasion and fourth-degree child abuse in January of 2025, stemming from an incident where he entered a family residence in Munising, intending to commit larceny. The defendant also pled guilty in a companion case to breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny in November of 2024, when he entered Earl-E-Byrds restaurant, broke into the safe, and stole a significant amount of money.
Prosecutor Robert Steinhoff said, “The victims in these cases have shown tremendous courage. This town is defined by peace and security, especially when in one’s own home. The people here can rest easy knowing that this dangerous individual has been removed from the community and he won’t be back anytime soon.”
Morrison was charged as a habitual offender. The prosecution emphasized the repeated nature of the crimes, as well as the fact that he had been sentenced to prison for similar crimes in the past.
“Anyone who terrorizes homes and businesses in this community is going to pay the price,” Munising City Police Chief Sheila Peters said after sentencing. “The message is that this behavior will not be tolerated in the City of Munising.”
Morrison’s arrests came after a lengthy investigation by the Munising City Police that included a large amount of digital forensic evidence.
