MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – The Michigan Secretary of State candidate Susanna Shkreli was in Marquette Friday as part of her campaign tour of the Upper Peninsula. Shkreli worked as a prosecutor for over a decade, focused on child abuse cases in Macomb County. During the past four years, she has held various positions within the Whitmer administration, most recently serving as Commissioner of the state lottery. Shkreli believes that continued confidence in our electoral system is a key issue for the next Secretary of State.
“And our elections work because we have clerks dedicated to the cause, and we have volunteers. These are your neighbors, these are your friends. These are people who believe in our system, who are volunteering their time to make sure our democracy works, and so we have to get back to a place of truth. Truth isn’t debatable,” explained Shkreli.
Shkreli would likely face current Lieutenant Governor, Garland Gilchrist, or Ingham County Clerk, Barbara Byram, for the Democratic nomination.
