ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Just as it seemed like spring was on its way, Escanaba was hit by a snowstorm Thursday night and Friday morning.
The roads were much quieter than usual during the morning commute, with schools and many businesses closing their doors for the day. Residents and business owners braved the wind and snow to shovel their driveways and sidewalks while municipal crews plowed the roads.
The Delta County Road Commission has advised citizens against traveling unless “absolutely necessary.” A Facebook post states, “The roads are in terrible condition, visibility is low and keeping up with this storm and wind is nearly impossible.”
Anyone suffering a medical emergency is asked to call 911, and dispatchers can direct a plow to their location. The Road Commission says it will take crews time to clear all of the snow that is expected to fall over the next three days.
