Second straight year on First Team by D2CCA
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech men’s basketball senior guard Marcus Tomashek has been named to the D2CCA All-Region in voting conducted by the region’s sports information directors, announced on Thursday.
Tomashek is now a three-time All-Region recipient, earning First Team honors last season and Second Team honors in the 2023-24 season.
A native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Tomashek also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors in his senior campaign. He was a force for the Huskies again this season, starting in 31 games, averaging 20.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 38.3 percent from the field (202-527), 35.7 percent from 3-point range (97-272) and 78.7 percent from the charity stripe (144-183). He has scored in double figures in 30 games, with eight 20-point games and six games of 30 or more points, including a season-high 39 points against Lynn on Dec. 20. Tomashek finished the regular season with a team-leading 645 points and 88 assists, while finishing third on the team in rebounds with 123. Tomashek is three points away from becoming No. two all-time in program history with 2,358 points, while also being the Division II active career leader.
Tomashek and the rest of the men’s hoops squad begin a new season on Saturday, facing Lake Erie in the Midwest Regional Quarterfinals at 12 p.m.
