MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – St. Vincent de Paul’s Marquette district has launched a $1.2 capital campaign for revitalization efforts of its local facilities. On Thursday, they held a press conference at Northern Michigan University to announce the project.
Since 2022, a dynamic strategic plan has been in place to revitalize the Marquette location, quoted as becoming inadequate to the numbers of individuals its mission serves.
“We have an excellent volunteer force, but with our current facility, we can not use them well,” said Marquette District President, Karen Reese. “We expect to expand our current programs and introduce new ways to be helpful to the people who are in need.”
Renovations are currently focused on the Marquette storefront location, serving as a hub for donations, financial aid services, and food pantry. In total, more than 80% of the campaign’s goal has already been reached through several key donations. St. Vincent de Paul plans to send out a mailing to receive its remaining funds necessary.
“We have not really done much asking at this point,” said Reese. “I think we have a great mission, we can prove we can make a difference, and I anticipate it will go well.”
Renovations are set to begin in the summer, with an estimated completion date of January 1, 2027.
