Four Wildcats win two matches
TIFFIN, Ohio – The Northern Michigan women’s wrestling team at day one of the NCAA Regional 4 Qualifier on Friday, with five wrestlers advancing to tomorrow’s semifinals.
Zhivanna Magdaleno (117), Alissa Caltagirone (145), Sophia Bassino (160), and Abbie Miles all went 2-0 in their matches, while Mickaela Keane (207) was 1-0 to make it five Wildcats in the semifinal round.
Magdaleno added a tech fall win at 3:22 to start her day and followed it with a victory by fall at 1:33.
Caltagirone recorded back-to-back fall triumphs, coming in just 0:48 and 1:15.
Bassino collected two tech fall wins, coming at 5:05 in her first match, followed by another in 1:11.
Miles also advanced with victories via tech fall. Hers came in 1:35 and 3:59 of action.
Keane won her lone match of the day by decision, 7-4.
Samantha Chaon (131) will compete in Cons. Round 3 after going 2-1 in Friday. Her wins came by fall at 4:18 and by a 7-0 decision.
Alyssa Keane (138) went 1-2 in her matches while Jamie Cook (124) was 0-2.
