MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Parts of the Upper Peninsula woke up to a blanket of wet snow Wednesday morning, causing difficult road conditions, power outages and school closures.
Marquette County received about 8 inches of light snow overnight, leading to slushy intersections and one-lane traffic. Marquette County Road Commission Operations & Maintenance Director, Ross Olsen says after these past few dry weeks, their plows are in full swing, currently utilizing around 60 trucks throughout the region.
“It’s all hands on deck right now,” he said. “The break in the weather gave us a chance to catch up on some of our preventative maintenance and repair some of the trucks, so we’re in pretty good shape and we’re prepared for events like this.”
