MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The sign says it all. Roads will be closed throughout downtown Marquette starting around 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
The Marquette City Police Department advises against driving anywhere near downtown on Friday Evening.
Washington Street will be closed from 6th Street all the way to Lakeshore Boulevard, and then Lakeshore Boulevard will be shut down between Washington Street and South Lake Street.
Numbered side streets will be unable to cross Washington Street between 6th (near the Ramada Inn) and Lakeshore Blvd. This includes Front Street.
Marquette police say parking will be very difficult to find, and recommend parking a few blocks away and walking to the event.
The downtown social district will be in effect, and police will be patrolling downtown on foot, making sure nothing gets out of hand.
UP 200 officials are asking spectators not to bring their pets to the race. Your pet dogs will not be allowed in the downtown area the night of the race.
