HOLLAND, Mich. — Day two of the GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close with NMU holding firm on its second-place standing.

NMU maintained its second-place standing, amassing 336 points, only behind GVSU in first at 530. Wayne State (256) sat third, Davenport (211) fourth, and SVSU (188) fifth.

The ‘Cats lone medal of the day came in the 400 medley relay, as the team of Evangeline Pierce, Evie DeCarlo, Pauline Izydorek, and Laura Stockinger earned bronze. This marks Stockinger’s fourth medal of the championships.

Pauline Izydorek (4th, 56.75) and Phini Schneider (6th, 57.05) competed in the championship heat of the 100 fly, and Carlotta Santi (4th, 1:52.12) and Annika Geyer (7th, 1:53.58) represented NMU in the 200 free. How It Happened
The evening opened with the B final of the 100 fly, a race that featured Sophia Moore and Laura Stockinger. Moore won the B final with a 56.86, and Stockinger 5th at 58.15. The A final featured Pauline Izydorek and Phini Schneider in the championship heat, with Izydorek in lane six and Schneider in lane two. The duo were in sixth and seventh at the split with times of 26.55 and 26.71, before moving up to finish 4th and 6th with times of 56.75 and 57.05, respectively.

The ‘Cats had three representatives in the B final of the 400 IM: Nadia Blackmore, Evie DeCarlo, and Manuela Araujo. DeCarlo and Araujo were among the top four the entire length of the race, and the duo would finish second and third at 4:30.69 and 4:32.50, respectively. Blackmore would finish sixth in the heat at 4:38.38.

The 200 free B final featured four Wildcats: Abby Keen (4th, 1:55.75), Ellie Kilgard (5th, 1:55.87), Caitlin Aarseth (6th, 1:56.34), and Joanne Arbic (7th, 1:56.78). The A final saw Carlotta Santi and Annika Geyer compete for a spot on the podium; Santi just missed in 4th at 1:52.12, with Geyer claiming seventh at 1:53.58.

After a 7th place finish for Josie Bossen (324.90) in the B final this morning, Kalina Ceglinski and Grace Daly took to the board for the A final in the 3-meter. Ceglinski finished fourth with 423.65 points, narrowly missing a podium finish and only missing out on a silver medal by less than three points. Teammate Daly finished behind in fifth with a score of 401.75.

The 400 medley relay ended the evening for the women, and the Wildcats entered the pool with the third-fastest entry time. The ‘Cats were just 0.17 seconds behind first in the opening backstroke split, before losing some time during the breast split. That ground proved too much to overcome, but the ‘Cats confidently claimed bronze, beating fourth-place by two body lengths at 3:46.63.
